What happened

The Cirrus Vision Jet (SF50) is a single-engine, pressurized personal jet designed for qualified owner-pilots and private business travel. The latest version, the G3, was introduced in February 2026. It is powered by a Williams FJ33-5A turbofan and has a maximum cruise speed of 317 knots true airspeed (587 km/h), a published maximum range of 1,275 nautical miles (2,361 km) and a maximum operating altitude of 31,000 feet (9,449 m).

Maximum takeoff weight is 6,000 lb (2,722 kg), published useful load is 2,446 lb (1,109 kg) and maximum usable fuel is 296 US gallons (1,120 L). The G3 adds redesigned seating, integrated tray tables, ATC Datalink, automatic database updates, enhanced airport guidance, upgraded lighting and more than 30 refinements.

The flight deck is the Garmin-based Cirrus Perspective Touch+ with digital autopilot and autothrottle. Safety systems include CAPS, a whole-aircraft parachute, and Safe Return emergency autoland, which can navigate to a suitable airport, communicate with air traffic control and land automatically if the pilot is incapacitated.

The reported 2026 price of a new G3 is approximately $3.68 million with available options; a separate pricing reference lists an equipped value of $3.46 million. Pre-owned Vision Jets have been advertised from about $1.65 million to more than $3.6 million, including 2016–2018 original SF50s at roughly $1.77 million–$2 million, 2019–2020 G2 examples at about $2.3 million–$2.7 million and 2021–2025 G2+ aircraft at about $2.95 million–$3.55 million. These are asking prices, not completed transactions.

Ownership costs and pilot requirements

A 2026 ownership cost comparison for a G3 flown 200 hours per year estimates variable operating cost at $910 per flight hour, annual fixed expenses of $79,879 and variable expenses of $182,000. The modeled total is $261,879, or about $1,309 per hour, excluding insurance and depreciation.

Flying the aircraft in the United States requires FAA certification and an SF-50 type rating, along with applicable instrument, currency and medical requirements. Alternatives for buyers needing more passengers, baggage or range include the HondaJet Elite II, the Embraer Phenom 100EX and high-performance turboprops.

Industry impact & what to watch

The spread of advertised prices across original SF50s, G2, G2+ and the new G3 shows how a single-engine jet line is valued by generation. Each step up the ladder carries a different equipment set, and the G3's autoland, datalink and updated cabin sit at the top of that ladder at about $3.68 million new.

The cost model also frames the segment honestly. A figure near $1,309 per hour at 200 hours a year, before insurance and depreciation, places the aircraft in owner-pilot territory, where the buyer's own type rating and currency are part of the economics rather than an add-on.

Because the pre-owned figures are asking prices rather than completed sales, actual transaction levels for each generation remain the number that would settle where the market really clears.
