Archer and ITA Airways Sign Agreement to Partner on All-Electric Air Taxi Network in Italy
Why It MattersITA Airways joining Archer's partner network signals European flag carriers positioning electric air taxis as feeders into existing airline networks, extending Archer's airline-led commercialization strategy beyond the U.S. and UAE.
Archer and ITA Airways, a member of the Lufthansa Group, have signed an agreement to partner on an all-electric air taxi network in Italy. Using Archer's Midnight aircraft, the partnership will look to deploy air taxi services in major Italian cities. Midnight is designed for rapid back-to-back flights with zero operating emissions, with the aim of replacing 60–90 minute drives with all-electric flights of 10–20 minutes. As an example, the hour-long ground trip from Fiumicino Airport to Rome's city center could take under 10 minutes by Midnight.

ITA Airways, Italy's flag carrier serving more than 70 destinations worldwide as part of the Star Alliance network, is 59% owned by Italy's Ministry of Economy and Finance and 41% by Deutsche Lufthansa AG. Its CEO and General Manager, Joerg Eberhart, said the agreement is an important step in assessing how electric air taxi services could complement the airline's network and improve connections between airports, city centers and other strategic destinations, and that the airline is exploring different solutions to identify the best product for customers.
ITA Airways' contribution will focus on enabling an integrated customer journey and connecting the new service with its network, working alongside specialized partners responsible for operating it. With the agreement, ITA Airways becomes the first European carrier to join Archer's global network of airline partners, extending a commercialization strategy already underway in the U.S., the UAE and beyond.
