Sydney socialites fly home from Andrew Stanway's Bali 50th birthday on Falcon 900EX charter
Why It MattersLeisure demand for large-cabin charter on Australia-Bali runs is shaped by group travel for private events, where per-trip pricing in the six figures is accepted by clients organising lifestyle occasions.
What happened
A group of Sydney socialites returned to Australia on Monday aboard a private jet after a weekend in Bali celebrating the 50th birthday of hospitality figure Andrew Stanway. Guests seen disembarking at Sydney's private jet terminal included swimwear designer Jodhi Meares, MCoBeauty founder Shelley Sullivan, artist Daimon Downey and his wife Georgia Gorman, and businessman Lawrence Myers. A flight attendant was seen unloading several bottles of Ruinart champagne from the aircraft.

The aircraft, named My Girl, was a Falcon 900EX operated by Australian charter company Avion Classique Chartering. The jet seats up to 12 passengers, and a return journey between Australia and Bali costs upwards of $130,000.
Stanway held the party last weekend at Sunset Beach in Seminyak, one of his venues. An estimated 50 to 70 guests attended, among them designer Mikey Hwang. Stanway, known as 'Stanas', previously lived in Double Bay before moving to Bali, where he owns the venue Mrs Sippy.
The party itself
The theme drew on Stanway's love of surfing. Birthday-branded surfboards were placed around the dance floor, a movie-style poster was inspired by the 1966 surf documentary The Endless Summer, and the DJ booth carried the slogan 'Stanas '76. Bad decisions, good times'.
Industry impact & what to watch
Event-driven group travel is one of the clearer demand drivers for large-cabin charter on leisure routes. A 12-seat Falcon 900EX suits a party of friends travelling together, and the quoted price of upwards of $130,000 for the Australia-Bali return shows the ticket size clients accept when the trip is tied to a social occasion rather than a routine journey.
For an Australian charter operator, such bookings are lumpy and relationship-led: they come from a client's network and a single high-profile weekend, and the aircraft's visible arrival at a private terminal functions as marketing within that same network. Whether this particular booking is a one-off or part of a pattern for Avion Classique Chartering is not something this trip alone establishes.
