NetJets plans to expand its headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. The project is expected to add more than 365,000 square feet, create over 800 new jobs, and be completed in early 2029. The fractional operator has been headquartered in Columbus for more than 60 years.

Two new buildings are planned on the company's Bridgeway Avenue campus. They will include additional office space, a crew training center, a parking garage, and expanded dining and event facilities.

The development is being carried out in partnership with Daimler Group and Volconn. Daimler Group has worked with NetJets before and completed the company's current headquarters in 2012.

A NetJets spokesperson said in a press release that construction is expected to proceed in phases over the coming years and is subject to securing final legal and regulatory approvals. The spokesperson added that the company will remain focused on maintaining high standards of safety and service and looks forward to continuing its partnership with Columbus for decades to come. NetJets is the world's largest private jet operator and a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway.

Industry impact & what to watch

Fractional operators run on people as much as on aircraft: crews, schedulers, owner services and support staff all scale with fleet and membership growth. A build that pairs office space with a dedicated crew training center reflects how central in-house pilot development is to that model, where every added aircraft in the program needs qualified crews to fly it.

Committing to a single-campus expansion also says something about how large fractional programs organize themselves. Rather than distributing functions across several sites, concentrating training, administration and employee facilities in one place keeps the operating core together, which matters for a business that sells consistency of service.

The nearest point that will settle how much of the plan is realized is the approvals step the company itself describes: construction proceeds in phases and depends on final legal and regulatory sign-off, with early 2029 as the stated completion target.
