Navi Launches First Purpose-Built Generative AI Platform for Pilot Training

Navi, a San Francisco-based aviation AI company founded in 2024 by Nikola Kostic and Vivek Velivela, has developed what it describes as the first purpose-built generative AI platform in commercial operation for pilot training. The platform aggregates telemetry, cockpit audio, training materials, weather data, aircraft history, and air traffic information to generate a detailed, moment-by-moment debrief after every flight, with a domain-specific large language model analyzing pilot intent, behaviour, and performance against each flight school's syllabus for the specific lesson or maneuver being taught.
Analysis once reserved for accident or incident investigations and taking days to complete now runs automatically after every flight, giving trainee pilots, flight instructors, and flight schools continuous performance and safety data. Trainees can also interact with a context-aware AI assistant grounded in standard operating procedures, FAA regulations, and flight-specific data to ask questions, locate citations, and access tutorials tied to their own performance.
The technology is already in use or under evaluation at Sling Pilot Academy, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, University of North Dakota, Purdue University, Utah State University, and Delta State University, among others. Navi states its ambitions extend beyond flight training to commercial crews and defence forces.
