Why It MattersThe long-running sponsorship shows how corporate flight departments and fuel suppliers turn spare aircraft capacity into patient transport, giving the business-aviation community a standing, visible role in medical access.

Bob Stangarone, Corporate Angel Network President and CEO, received the check. Anne McMahon, senior vice president for data, intelligence and media, represented Aviation Week.

Corporate Angel Network relies on a network of corporate aircraft partners to help cancer patients reach medical care that requires long-distance travel. The nonprofit celebrates its 45th anniversary in December. It has completed more than 70,000 patient flights and expects to arrange more than 2,000 patient flights in 2026.

The donation is part of Phillips 66 Aviation's annual sponsorship of the Corporate Angel Award, which recognizes corporations and flight departments that contribute to the organization's mission. This year's honorees are Jet Aviation, LFG Aviation, ConocoPhillips and Emerson. Stangarone said that support from organizations like Phillips 66 Aviation lets the network keep completing flights that help patients reach the care they need.

Industry impact & what to watch

The Corporate Angel Network model shows how business aviation can put existing assets to charitable use. Instead of buying lift, the nonprofit draws on aircraft that corporate partners already operate, so its flight volume depends on how many flight departments choose to take part. Sponsors such as Phillips 66 Aviation supply funding and recognition around that core, while the annual award gives participating companies a public acknowledgment for contributing.

For the segment, this kind of programme is also a reputational channel. Flight departments, fuel suppliers and media partners are visible together at NBAA-BACE in a setting that is otherwise commercial, which reinforces the argument that corporate aircraft serve purposes beyond executive travel. Because the award honors corporations and flight departments by name, the list of honorees each year is a rough gauge of which operators are active in the programme.

The next concrete milestone is the nonprofit's 45th anniversary in December, followed by the 2026 flight count against the expected 2,000-plus patient flights.
