FAA Awards $13.5 Million in Airport Improvement Grants to Three New York Airports in NY-23

Congressman Nick Langworthy announced on September 14 that three airports in New York's 23rd Congressional District will receive a combined $13,532,819 in federal Airport Improvement Program grants from the FAA under the FY2026 AIP cycle.
The largest award, $11,080,483, goes to Elmira/Corning Regional Airport in Elmira, granted to Chemung County, funding the second phase of construction to rehabilitate 8,000 feet of existing paved Runway 6/24, which has reached the end of its useful life, along with reconstruction of runway lighting. Wellsville Municipal/Tarantine Field in Wellsville will receive $1,619,172, awarded to the Town of Wellsville, covering the final construction phase to rehabilitate 5,700 feet of existing paved Taxiway A. Akron/Jesson Field in Akron will receive $833,164, awarded to Christian Airmen Inc., supporting the final construction phase to rehabilitate 3,268 feet of existing paved Runway 7/25.
All three projects are designed to maintain pavement structural integrity, minimize foreign object debris, and extend the useful life of critical airport infrastructure.
