Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) in Panama City Beach is preparing to launch two major maintenance, repair and overhaul projects, with construction expected to begin in early 2027, airport executive director Parker McClellan said. IAG Aero Group plans to build a 120,000-square-foot engine MRO facility at the airport, and the company already operates a 140,000-square-foot logistics and distribution center in Lynn Haven. Premier Aviation plans to develop a two-bay, narrow-body hangar at the airport.
IAG Aero Group holds the record as the Bay Economic Development Alliance's largest landed project. The two MRO projects follow a nearly $100 million terminal expansion that began vertical construction this week, which will add three gates, six baggage offices, and four additional baggage claim carousels, and will also expand the TSA checkpoint while adding passenger seating, escalators, elevators, restrooms, and concessions.
Airport data show ECP served 1,263,735 passengers in the first seven months of 2026, about 5.5% — or 66,490 passengers — more than the same period in 2025. Full-year 2025 was ECP's busiest year on record, with 1,937,244 passengers, an increase of more than 3%, or 58,296 passengers, over the previous record set in 2024.
