AVi8 Airways Secures Strategic Investment from Southern Vision Investment Ahead of 2027 Launch
Why It MattersThe investment signals continued financial backing for new ACMI and charter entrants targeting Southeast Asia's peak-season passenger and cargo demand ahead of commercial certification.
AVi8 Airways, a Singapore-structured ACMI and charter airline startup targeting the Asia-Pacific region, announced on September 8, 2026 that Southern Vision Investment (SVI) has become a strategic investor, forming a long-term partnership to support the company's growth across Southeast Asia. Full financial terms will be disclosed in official filings at a later date, with SVI's backing intended to fund certification and a commercial launch planned for 2027, starting with cargo operations before expanding into passenger charter and ACMI services.

AVi8 plans to operate Airbus A320-family aircraft for passenger and charter services, alongside A321F and A330F freighters for cargo operations, and intends to apply for an Air Operator Certificate in Cambodia with an operational hub in Phnom Penh. SVI Group Managing Director Le Yen Thi said the investment reflects a long-term commitment to the ACMI and charter model in Southeast Asia, while AVi8 Managing Director Minh Nguyen said the backing gives the company stability to build it into the region's leading ACMI and charter platform.
AVi8 Airways is backed by AVi8 Air Capital, an aviation investment fund founded by Ed Wegel, who has been involved in founding five airlines over nearly four decades. The company targets peak-season demand including Lunar New Year, Golden Week, Songkran, summer holidays, and Hajj and Umrah travel, as well as cargo flows across the Asia-Pacific, and the deal marks SVI's entry into the aviation and transport infrastructure sector.
