Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport Completes Largest Aircraft Maintenance Complex in the City
Why It MattersThe addition of large-scale MRO capacity at a major Chinese hub signals growing regional investment in wide-body and narrow-body maintenance infrastructure to support airport operations.
An aircraft maintenance center built by China Railway First Group Co., Ltd. has been completed at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport and is expected to begin full operations in the near future. The complex covers a total area of 31,203.44 square meters and includes a maintenance hangar, auxiliary buildings, an office complex, a hazardous materials warehouse for lubricants and chemicals, and external infrastructure facilities.

The centerpiece is a hangar with a lattice shell structure featuring a clear span of 119 meters and a depth of 93 meters, providing more than 10,000 square meters of column-free interior space. The hangar can simultaneously service one wide-body aircraft and two narrow-body aircraft, and its roof weighs more than 1,800 tonnes and is equipped with intelligent operation and maintenance systems.
The facility has been described as the largest and most intelligent integrated aircraft maintenance complex in Chongqing, and its completion is expected to strengthen the operational support capabilities of Jiangbei International Airport.
