Gujarat Government Orders Quarterly Helipad Inspections and Immediate Repairs to Keep All Sites Operational

The Gujarat government has issued formal guidelines through an official circular from the Roads and Buildings Department, under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, requiring all helipads across the state to remain continuously functional and ready for immediate use.
Under the new protocol, Superintending Engineers must conduct mandatory site inspections of every helipad within their jurisdiction at least once every three months, while Executive Engineers hold primary responsibility for keeping landing sites operational at all times, with any structural deficiencies to be repaired without delay. The circular mandates regular upkeep of surface conditions, pavement integrity, painted markings, drainage systems, and peripheral approach routes.
Authorities must also continuously monitor and clear helipads and surrounding areas of obstructions, including unauthorized encroachments, temporary structures, stored materials, parked vehicles, debris, and overgrown vegetation, and remove non-functional or seized government vehicles deposited at these sites immediately. The measures are intended to support emergency response logistics, medical evacuations, disaster relief operations, and VIP movement, including visits by the Prime Minister and Chief Minister.
