IBAC Outlines September 2026 Agenda: POC Meeting in Brazil, CJI Asia, NBAA BACE, and ATConf/7 Preparations

IBAC Director General Kurt Edwards has outlined the organisation's schedule and priorities for September 2026 and the months ahead. In the first week of September, IBAC's Planning and Operations Committee is meeting in Iguaçu, Brazil, hosted by ABAG, with agenda items including the formal launch of the new CORE risk-management initiative for small operators and ground handlers and preparations for ICAO's Seventh Worldwide Air Transport Conference (ATConf/7).
Also in September, an IBAC delegation joined by several AsBAA officials is participating in the 61st Asia Pacific Directors General of Civil Aviation Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, covering regional cooperation on safety, security, sustainability, air navigation, advanced air mobility and artificial intelligence. IBAC is joining Corporate Jet Investor for CJI Asia 2026 in Singapore on 15-16 September.
ATConf/7 is scheduled for 16-20 November 2026 at ICAO Headquarters in Montréal, and IBAC will seek nominations from Member Association officers and Industry Partners to join its delegation, with a preliminary draft Working Paper circulated and seven Industry Partner Programme members engaged in preparations. For NBAA BACE in Las Vegas, 20-22 October, IBAC is planning the IS-BAO Standards Board meeting, the Industry Advisory Forum on 22 October, the IBAC Governing Board meeting, and a recognition event for IS-BAH and IS-BAO participants.
On public health, IBAC highlighted ICAO's CAPSCA mechanism and its latest advisory on the Ebola Bundibugyo virus disease outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo; the WHO does not recommend suspending international flights or denying entry based solely on travel from affected areas, but operators flying to or from the region are urged to maintain preparedness procedures. ICAO's Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection working groups covering noise, local air quality, CO2 and non-CO2 emissions, sustainable aviation fuels, and the Long-Term Aspirational Goal are resuming meetings this month, targeting updates for the CAEP Steering Group meeting in October.
IS-BAH workshops in August were well attended, with the next IS-BAH Fundamentals workshop beginning 8-9 September. Upcoming fall activities also include the ICAO Global Harmonisation Task Force meeting and the ACAO-ICAO North African regional meeting in October, followed by the ICAO EUR Regional meeting and EBAA Safety Week in November.
