Joby Aviation and Atoms Form Partnership to Build Vertiport Infrastructure in Florida, New York, Texas, and California

Joby Aviation and Atoms Real Estate have announced a strategic partnership to develop vertiport infrastructure supporting Joby's electric air taxi operations, initially focusing on Florida, New York, Texas, and California — the markets where Joby is preparing to launch early operations under the White House-backed eVTOL Integration Pilot Program (eIPP).
Under the partnership, Atoms will develop vertiports as next-generation transportation hubs where electric aircraft, autonomous ground vehicles, and ridesharing services converge, enabling passenger connections, aircraft servicing, and last-mile ground transportation. Joby's aircraft is in the final stage of FAA type certification, having flown its first FAA-conforming aircraft and conducted piloted flights across the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City to demonstrate operational capability.
Travis Kalanick, Founder and CEO of Atoms, said the partnership is aimed at designing and deploying a new asset class to support emerging transport modes; Atoms builds smart city infrastructure through in-house architects, engineers, technology, and construction teams. JoeBen Bevirt, Founder and CEO of Joby Aviation, said that as air taxis move closer to early commercial service in the United States, the right infrastructure becomes increasingly important — not just where aircraft land and charge, but how cities embrace the new form of transportation.
