AIR Partners with Elmo Motion Control to Integrate Servo Drives into Heavy Lift Uncrewed Cargo Aircraft

AIR, a manufacturer and developer of unmanned aircraft systems, has partnered with Elmo Motion Control to integrate Elmo's motion control technology into AIR's Heavy Lift UAS, a VTOL-capable uncrewed cargo aircraft capable of carrying payloads up to 550 pounds. Under the agreement, Elmo's Gold HV motor drive will power all eight of AIR's electric propulsion motors, providing precise and responsive control while supporting air-cooled operation that eliminates the need for liquid cooling systems, reducing weight and system complexity while increasing payload capacity.
AIR's Heavy Lift UAS has a one-hour flight endurance and is classified as a Group 4 UAS by the U.S. Department of Defense. The aircraft features a dual-use architecture designed to serve applications including flexible logistics, mid-mile delivery, maritime resupply, and rapid aid deployments, with more than 25 units of the Cargo-Heavy Lift UAS ordered to date.
