Embry-Riddle and Florida FDOT Co-Host Inaugural AAM Symposium, Backed by FAA eVTOL Pilot Program Partnership

Florida's inaugural Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Symposium took place this spring at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Daytona Beach Campus, co-hosted by Embry-Riddle and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). The two-day event brought together more than 300 researchers, policymakers and industry innovators for technical sessions, policy briefings and live demonstrations, held alongside Florida's selection as one of eight initial partners in the FAA's eVTOL Integration Pilot Program, aimed at accelerating safe AAM integration into the National Airspace System.

Florida's AAM infrastructure centers on Embry-Riddle's new Center for Advanced Air Mobility (CAAM), based at the university's Research Park next to Daytona Beach International Airport, which supports testing, simulation and workforce training for electric and hybrid aircraft developers. Nearby, FDOT's SunTrax Air campus offers dedicated airspace, controlled test corridors, vertiport simulation and intelligent transportation systems for eVTOL development.
Officials say the combined Embry-Riddle and FDOT ecosystem is meant to attract AAM companies to Florida through research infrastructure, regulatory collaboration and a trained workforce pipeline, supporting broader economic activity including manufacturing, maintenance and professional services across the state.
