GE Aerospace Projects Indian Suppliers Could Make About 50% of Aero-Engine Components by 2030
Why It MattersEngine makers appear to be shifting from buying simple parts in India to sourcing certified precision components there, a change that could redraw part of the global engine supply chain.
India's aerospace manufacturers have moved from relatively simple parts to precision-engineered components used in commercial aircraft engines. The shift has required investment in specialised manufacturing processes, quality systems, certification and engineering expertise, supported by long-term relationships with international engine manufacturers.

In an economic impact report released on October 12, GE Aerospace projected that Indian suppliers could develop the capability to manufacture approximately 50% of aero-engine components by 2030. The projection reflects capabilities being developed in India; it does not indicate the share of engine components produced domestically today.
GE Aerospace's Pune facility, inaugurated in 2015, produces components for the GE90, GEnx, GE9X and CFM International LEAP programmes and works with more than 300 suppliers, including small and medium-sized enterprises. The company has committed more than ₹510 crore over three years to Pune, including ₹100 crore announced in May 2026 for welding technologies, advanced inspection equipment, precision tools and infrastructure improvements. Its Bengaluru engineers contribute to development of the GE9X, GEnx and LEAP engines.
Among Indian suppliers, the Maini Group entered aerospace manufacturing in 2005, when specialised surface-treatment suppliers were scarce, and helped suppliers from its automotive business obtain aerospace certifications and customer approvals. Those suppliers later served other Indian aerospace manufacturers. Hyderabad-based Raghu Vamsi Machine Tools began supplying GE Aerospace in 2014 with engine tube fittings for fuel and gas transfer systems, and has grown from 14 parts to more than 300 and from 100 employees to 1,200.
