Aero Tech Aviation Design introduces FAA-approved drip pan kits for Cessna Citation CJ series

Why It MattersCorrosion from hidden lavatory leaks is a recurring maintenance cost for light-jet operators, and approved aftermarket kits give owners of ageing airframes a lower-cost route to guard against it.

Aero Tech Aviation Design (ATAD) has introduced FAA-approved drip pan kits for Cessna Citation CJ series aircraft. The kits are installed beneath the aircraft lavatory to capture blue-water spills and automatically drain fluids overboard after landing. The system is intended to keep moisture out of fuselage seams, crevices and other structural areas where corrosion can develop undetected.

According to ATAD, undetected lavatory leaks can cause extensive structural corrosion, potentially leading to major repairs costing between $250,000 and $500,000, as well as prolonged aircraft downtime. The company said the kits provide a permanent protective measure against fluid-related damage and can help operators protect structural integrity, reduce maintenance-related expenses and preserve long-term asset value.

The kits are available for the Citation CJ, CJ1, CJ2 and CJ3, covering Models 525, 525A and 525B. ATAD also offers kits for the Citation CJ4 (Model 525C). ATAD manufactures FAA Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) aircraft components and provides engineering, certification and Designated Engineering Representative (DER) services.
