US Embassy Restricts Staff Access to Jeddah and Dammam Airports After Fatal Houthi Attack on Riyadh
Why It MattersHeightened security measures at major Saudi airports could disrupt regional business aviation access and prompt operators to reassess risk around Gulf airspace.
The US Embassy in Saudi Arabia has imposed restrictions requiring US government employees in the country to obtain special authorization before using King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, as well as airports in Jeddah and Dammam, according to a statement published by the embassy.

The restrictions follow a fatal Houthi missile attack on King Khalid International Airport that killed at least 12 people and wounded more than 300 others, forcing a suspension of operations at the airport. The attack struck the domestic flights terminal and is part of a continuing pattern of targeting in the region.
