Park Rapids Airport Commission Backs Extra Six-Month Hangar Lease Extension for Pilot Without an Aircraft
Why It MattersThe vote shows how small municipal airports weigh a scarce hangar supply against lease terms that require a based aircraft for each hangar, with waivers stretching those terms case by case.
The Park Rapids Airport Commission voted 4-1 on Wednesday, Oct. 14, to recommend that the city council approve an additional six-month lease extension for hangar tenant Clint Hoffman, who does not currently own an airplane. The airport lease agreement requires a plane for each hangar.

City Administrator Angel Weasner said city policy gives a tenant who is buying a new plane but does not currently have one an automatic six-month waiver of the aircraft requirement, noting that buying an aircraft is an extensive process. That waiver runs through March 2027.
