ATR Appoints Vittorio Lorenzo Della Bella as CEO and Patrick Bergues as CFO, Both Effective November 1

Why It MattersLeadership transitions at joint-venture manufacturers like ATR, owned by Airbus and Leonardo, often move in step with succession and reassignment across both parent groups' organisations.

What happened

ATR has appointed Vittorio Lorenzo Della Bella as its new Chief Executive Officer and Patrick Bergues as Senior Vice-President Finance and Chief Financial Officer, both effective November 1, 2026. Della Bella succeeds Nathalie Tarnaud Laude in accordance with ATR's bylaws, while Bergues succeeds Andrea Coccetti, who will take on a new role within the Leonardo group.

Della Bella is currently President of Leonardo Helicopters U.S. and previously served as Senior Vice-President Customer Support, Services & Training for Leonardo Helicopters, where he oversaw a global organisation of approximately 2,500 employees supporting more than 4,500 helicopters and 1,300 customers worldwide. His career has included senior roles in programme management, business development, customer support and international industrial cooperation, including serving as Managing Director of NHIndustries.

Bergues joins ATR from Airbus, where he most recently served as Chief Financial Officer of Airbus in the U.S. and Chief Financial Officer of Starlab Space. He brings more than three decades of aerospace finance experience spanning corporate finance, aircraft financing, insurance and risk management, financial analysis and business control across Airbus' commercial aircraft, helicopters, defence, space and services divisions. ATR is a joint venture between Airbus and Leonardo.

Industry impact & what to watch

Executive transitions at a manufacturer jointly owned by two large aerospace groups tend to reflect internal mobility across both parents rather than an open external search, and this case follows that shape: Della Bella arrives from Leonardo Helicopters and Bergues from Airbus, while the outgoing CFO moves to a new post within Leonardo. That structure means ATR's leadership choices are shaped as much by career planning inside Airbus and Leonardo as by ATR's own standalone needs.

For a regional turboprop manufacturer navigating financing, customer support and production decisions, having a CFO with three decades of aerospace finance background across commercial aircraft, defence and space, and a CEO with direct experience running large customer-support and services organisations, signals continuity in operating priorities rather than a change in strategic direction. What remains to be seen is how Della Bella and Bergues position ATR's programme and commercial priorities once they formally take office on November 1, 2026.
