Rider Jet Center Adds Limousine Service and FAA Aviation Medical Examiners as Tenants at Hagerstown Regional Airport

Why It MattersFBOs increasingly lease on-airport office space to ground transport and pilot-medical providers, building a one-stop service cluster that adds tenant revenue beyond fuel and hangar fees.

What happened

Rider Jet Center has added two new tenants to its 22,000-square-foot office building at Hagerstown Regional Airport: On The Town Limousines and aviation medical examiners Daniel Weinberg and Roberta Rothen. Both have taken upstairs office space at the airport-based operation, according to a community announcement from the company.

Frederick-based On The Town Limousines serves Maryland, Northern Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C. Company officials said the business offers a variety of transportation vehicles and services for corporate and charter travelers using the airport.

Weinberg and Rothen provide the medical examinations the Federal Aviation Administration requires of pilots. The announcement describes both physicians as FAA-designated senior Aviation Medical Examiners, authorized to conduct FAA medical certification exams for pilots and air traffic controllers. They can be reached at 301-992-2973 or 240-520-3854.

The building already houses The Grille at Runways restaurant and South Mountain Aviation, an aviation repair station. Rider Jet Center is a full-service fixed-base operator serving civilian and military aviation customers, offering aircraft support services, maintenance and hospitality amenities. Company President and CEO Ben Rider said: "It is great to welcome these two new tenants. On the Town Limousines and Doctors Weinberg and Rothen bring added value to Rider Jet Center. Both of these entities provide services for the aviation industry."

Industry impact & what to watch

Regional FBOs compete on more than fuel and hangar space. A building that puts ground transportation, pilot medical certification, a repair station and a restaurant under one roof lets a crew or passenger finish several errands in a single stop, and it gives the FBO rental income that does not depend on aircraft movements.

The two tenants serve different customers. A limousine operator with a multi-state service area is aimed at corporate and charter travelers who need a vehicle waiting on arrival, while on-site medical examiners serve pilots who must keep their FAA medical certificates current. Pairing the two broadens the facility's appeal beyond a single user group.

Whether the cluster draws more traffic to Hagerstown will show up in how occupied the remaining space stays and in whether the FBO adds further tenants of this kind. No lease terms or occupancy figures have been announced.
