Flexjet Receives First Embraer Praetor 600E Delivery, Featuring Smart Window™ Technology

Flexjet announced on September 18, 2026 that it has taken delivery of the first-ever customer Embraer Praetor 600E, making it the fleet launch customer for the super-midsize jet. The aircraft is the world's first certified aircraft equipped with a fully operational Smart Window™ — a 42-inch 4K OLED touchscreen monitor curved to match the cabin sidewall, capable of showing real-time exterior views from three high-definition angles, functioning as a boardroom-style collaborative video-call screen, or providing entertainment and gaming.

Flexjet CEO Michael Silvestro said the company's relationship with Embraer dates to 2003, when Flexjet was fleet launch customer for the Legacy Executive. He pointed to further milestones including the 100th Phenom 300 delivery in 2012 and the 1,000th Embraer business jet ever delivered — a Legacy 500 — in 2016. Flexjet has now been fleet launch customer for five major Embraer product lines.

Both the Praetor 600E and the midsize Praetor 500E feature ergonomic lie-flat seats with electric-assisted controls, the NICE4K audio system with Omni-Fi speakers, an upper tech panel touchscreen for airflow and lighting control, voice-activated cabin management, and expanded headroom above each seating position. Praetor 500E deliveries are expected to begin later in 2026, and Flexjet is already taking delivery of Phenom 300E light jets. These aircraft fall under a $7 billion agreement signed in February 2025 that includes a firm order for 182 Embraer aircraft, options for 30 more, and an expanded services and support package.

This delivery extends a pattern in fractional aviation where a large operator secures first-in-market rights to a manufacturer's newest cabin technology, using that exclusivity as a competitive marker against rival fractional and charter providers. Fleet-launch status typically gives one operator exclusive initial access before an aircraft or feature reaches the broader private-jet market, which is exactly the arrangement covering both the Praetor 600E and the Praetor 500E.

The scale of the underlying order — 182 firm aircraft with options for 30 more under a $7 billion agreement — means the Smart Window™ and related cabin upgrades will roll out across Flexjet's fleet over an extended delivery schedule rather than as an isolated cabin refresh. What follows is whether the Praetor 500E deliveries expected later in 2026 arrive on that schedule, and whether Smart Window™ certification and in-service performance hold up across a larger operating fleet before the technology reaches other Embraer customers.
