Metron Aviation and Partners Complete NASA Advanced Air Mobility TCL-1 Simulation Campaign
Why It MattersThe campaign's findings will feed into future operational concepts and industry standards guiding how eVTOL and other advanced air mobility aircraft are integrated into shared airspace.
Metron Aviation, a Stratify Aerospace company, together with partners AAMTEX and Unmanned Experts (UMEX), announced on October 5, 2026 that it has completed participation in NASA's Advanced Air Mobility Pathfinders (AAMP) Technical Capability Level 1 (TCL-1) simulation campaign. The effort, which began in late 2025 and concluded in September 2026 with final data collection in August and September, was designed to evaluate technologies and operational capabilities needed to safely integrate Advanced Air Mobility, including eVTOL vehicles, into the National Airspace System.

Throughout the campaign, Metron Aviation and its partners provided airspace and flight operations services including demand-capacity balancing, operational intent management, conformance monitoring, fleet management, and high-fidelity flight simulation, supporting both human-piloted and autonomous flight operations. The team completed more than 1,000 flight simulations across 27 data collection runs, including medium- and high-density runs, and featured interactions between eVTOL pilots and air traffic controllers managing arrival and departure operations.
"We are proud to support NASA's efforts to further develop Advanced Air Mobility and evaluate the technologies and operational concepts needed for its safe integration into the National Airspace System," said Chris Jordan, President of Metron Aviation. NASA's AAMP initiative is examining how airspace service providers, operators, and air traffic systems can collaborate to manage increasingly complex AAM operations, with insights from TCL-1 expected to inform future operational concepts, industry standards, and deployment strategies. Metron Aviation stated that experience from the campaign will support development of AAM solutions positioned for Part 146 certification.
