Modern Aviation, founded in 2018, is building a national network of premium fixed-base operator (FBO) properties across the United States. The company states its mission is to give customers the best experience at every visit, with a vision of becoming the FBO employer and provider of choice for customers, communities and airports.

All locations across the network hold IS-BAH registration, with the company pursuing advancement of each site to Stage III. Safety training is grounded in IS-BAH standards alongside internal on-the-job training and NATA Safety 1st programs. On sustainability, Modern Aviation supports Sustainable Aviation Fuel availability at select locations and pursues fleet electrification, including electric fuel trucks where feasible, LED lighting conversions, and sustainable construction practices in new developments and renovations.

The leadership team includes co-founder, President and CEO Mark Carmen, previously Managing Partner of CM Equity Partners and a 13-year Managing Director in Investment Banking at Jefferies & Company. Chief Operating Officer Richard Layson brings more than 20 years of aviation leadership experience, including senior roles at TAC Air and, following TAC Air's acquisition by Signature Aviation in 2022, as Vice President of Operations at Jet Aviation overseeing all U.S. FBO and sales operations. The CFO previously served in the same role at Atlantic Aviation.
