Farnborough International Airshow 2026 Draws 141,580 Visitors and $84.7 Billion in Deals

The Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) 2026 attracted 141,580 trade and public visitors and approximately 1,200 exhibitors, a 41% increase over the previous edition. Commercial deals worth over $84.7 billion were announced during the event, which will return to Farnborough on 17-21 July 2028.

Among the announcements, Airbus Helicopters and Voyageur Aviation signed an agreement making Voyageur the official Canadian launch customer for the Airbus U030 Flexrotor uncrewed aerial system, covering three physical drones and a control and command system. Voyageur's Marty Rogers said wildfire response across Canada would be a primary use case and cited the U030's cold-weather performance as a factor in its selection. Airbus also said the U030 Flexrotor had begun maritime surveillance operations in the Baltic Sea on behalf of a European agency.

Airbus Helicopters and Saudi Arabia's The Helicopter Company announced a firm order for eight additional H145 helicopters, to be delivered between 2027 and 2028 under a framework agreement signed at Verticon in 2024 covering up to 120 Airbus helicopters, for emergency medical services and other mission-critical operations. The UK's National Police Air Service placed a firm order for two additional H135 helicopters under a 2025 framework contract with BlueLight Commercial, bringing its fleet renewal programme to nine H135s, with delivery to Airbus' Oxford site in 2028; NPAS currently operates 16 H135 and four H145 helicopters from 14 locations for 43 police forces in England and Wales.

Aviation for Good launched its first two humanitarian projects at the show: flying surgeons and volunteer medical teams to remote African communities for cataract operations, and carrying engineers, personnel, and construction materials to a village isolated after a cyclone destroyed its bridge. Bell Textron announced delivery of its 700th Bell 505, to a private VIP operator, noting the type is also used as a military training platform in Jordan, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Albania, Montenegro, Indonesia, Iraq, and South Korea. Conair Group promoted its contract to supply four Dash 8-400AT airtankers and one TBM 960 Air Attack aircraft, plus pilots and maintenance engineers, to the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre through 27 September 2026, and De Havilland Canada showcased its Sherpa utility aircraft, known colloquially as the Pack Rat.

The deals announced at Farnborough span uncrewed maritime surveillance, EMS helicopters, police fleet renewal, humanitarian logistics, and wildfire suppression, showing how a single airshow now aggregates procurement across civil, government, and military-adjacent buyers rather than a narrow slice of commercial jet orders. Several of the largest commitments, such as the THC framework covering up to 120 Airbus helicopters and NPAS's multi-year fleet renewal, were struck years before the show and simply had increments confirmed there, which is how framework agreements let operators add capacity in smaller firm tranches while locking in delivery slots years out.

The wildfire-related announcements from Voyageur and Conair point to a recurring seasonal procurement cycle in North America, where operators and agencies contract specific aircraft types, from uncrewed surveillance platforms to airtankers, on defined contract windows tied to fire seasons rather than open-ended fleets. Whether the U030 Flexrotor's Baltic maritime surveillance role expands to other operators, and how THC's remaining deliveries under its 120-helicopter framework are phased through 2028, are the concrete items likely to surface as those programmes progress.
