SIAEC Completes 30% Stake Acquisition in Arport AME Fujian, Establishing China MRO Joint Venture

SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC) has completed its acquisition of a 30% stake in Arport AME, an MRO joint venture based in Fujian, China, with the transaction finalised on August 26, 2026 after all conditions were satisfied. Following completion, Arport AME has become an associated company of SIAEC.

SIAEC first announced the deal on March 17, 2026, when it and its wholly owned subsidiary, SIAEC Global Private Limited, signed agreements with Arport AME, Xiamen Iport Group, and Arport AME's direct shareholders to complete the transaction and establish the joint venture. The transaction is not expected to have a material effect on the SIAEC Group's consolidated net tangible assets per share or earnings per share for the financial year ending March 31, 2027. None of SIAEC's directors or controlling shareholders holds any direct or indirect interest in the transaction, other than through shares they may hold in SIAEC.

The structure here is a minority stake rather than a controlling acquisition, pairing SIAEC's engineering expertise with Xiamen Iport Group's regional airport network. That pattern lets an established MRO group gain a foothold in a specific provincial market through a local partner that already holds the airport relationships, instead of building a standalone operation from scratch.

The stated aim is to support airline customers in Fujian province and address growing demand for regional aviation maintenance services, which points to a market-access rationale rather than a capacity or technology transfer story. Whether this becomes a template for further regional China entries, or stays a one-off arrangement tied to Xiamen Iport Group's specific network, will depend on how Arport AME's customer base develops from here.
