Phillips 66 Aviation Marks Nearly 100 Years as Refiner and Supplier of Aviation Fuel

Phillips 66 Aviation traces its roots to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where it was founded in 1927. Over nearly a century, the company pioneered 100-octane avgas used by military aircraft during World War II, developed anti-icing additives that improved fuel performance and safety, and supplied fuel for some of the earliest long-distance flights between the U.S. mainland and Hawaii.
The company describes itself as the only aviation fuel supplier that both refines and supplies its own aviation fuel, a distinction it says gives FBOs and flight departments greater supply reliability and consistency. Its branded FBO network has grown to 740 locations across the United States, ranging from long-established family-run operations to newer facilities.
Phillips 66 Aviation also offers a Contract Fuel program providing discounted fuel pricing nationwide while eliminating fuel cards, fuel releases, and minimum volume requirements, and continues developing sustainable aviation fuel solutions for general and business aviation. The company is scheduled to exhibit at NBAA-BACE 2026, October 20–22 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, booth #1608.
