Skyports Infrastructure Wins All Nine Japanese AAM and Vertiport Subsidy Projects in 2026

Skyports Infrastructure has secured all nine Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and vertiport subsidy projects it participated in across Japan in 2026, working alongside major Japanese corporations including Kanematsu Corporation and Mitsui Fudosan. The nine projects span six prefectures.
In Osaka Prefecture, a Kanematsu Corporation-led project supported by subsidies from Osaka Prefecture and Osaka City covers a basic design and business case for a future maintenance, repair and overhaul facility in Osaka City, plus identification of vertiport candidate sites across the prefecture. In Hyogo Prefecture, Skyports secured four separate subsidy projects led by Kanematsu, covering vertiport feasibility studies and designs at Sumoto City on Awaji Island, Kinosaki Onsen, the Kobe waterfront, and Arima Onsen, funded by Hyogo Prefecture with Toyooka City also funding the Kinosaki Onsen project.
In Oita Prefecture, a project led by Kyushu Railway Company explores AAM implementation across the prefecture, with Skyports leading commercial feasibility studies and vertiport site identification. In Yamanashi Prefecture, a project examines integrating a vertiport around the Linear Chuo Shinkansen station, with Skyports carrying out preliminary survey and planning work. In Shizuoka Prefecture, a Suzuyo Corporation-led project focuses on a business feasibility study in the Shizuoka City area, with Skyports supporting site surveys. In Mie Prefecture, a project led by Mitsui Fudosan and Ise-Shima Resort Management explores a future air taxi network across the Chubu and Kansai regions centered on Ise-Shima, with Skyports supporting vertiport assessment and integration with existing transport networks.
Masashi Taruta, Japan country manager at Skyports Infrastructure, said securing all nine projects represented "a strong endorsement of Skyports' expertise" in shaping Japan's emerging AAM market. Masafumi Nishikawa, general manager of the aerospace department at Kanematsu Corporation, said Japan's AAM market was "entering an important new phase" with focus shifting toward practical infrastructure and commercial operations planning.
