High Lander Reaches $30 Million in Total Funding to Expand US Presence and Move Into Defense

Why It MattersFresh backing for software that manages drone traffic and low-altitude airspace points to growing demand for unified control layers as drone use spreads into security and defense.

High Lander, a provider of software platforms for autonomous aviation, drone fleet operations and airspace management, has reached a total of $30 million in funding. Founded in 2018 by aviation and technology experts, the company builds an end-to-end software layer for the autonomous aviation ecosystem through its Orion drone fleet management platform and its Vega unmanned traffic management platform.

The company is expanding into national security and defense with Andromeda, an AI-powered operational intelligence platform designed to create a unified operational picture of low-altitude airspace. Andromeda uses an open, hardware-agnostic architecture that lets sensor systems and effectors from multiple vendors operate under a single control layer, and it fuses data from multiple detection systems to help distinguish authorized activity from unidentified or unauthorized aircraft.

The capital will support expansion in the United States and other international markets, continued development of Vega, Orion and Andromeda, and the extension of the technology into defense, homeland security and dual-use applications. EDGE Group's additional investment deepens an existing strategic relationship, while the participation of STEP, Protego and Kinetica expands the company's network across the U.S. autonomous systems market and the global defense technology ecosystem.

Founder and CEO Alon Abelson said the company is entering a new phase and aims to become the software layer that connects autonomy, aviation and security. Lital Leshem, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Protego, said the need for a unified aerial picture, threat detection and coordinated real-time response is becoming increasingly critical as drone adoption grows.
