North American Private Jet Flight Activity Rose Just 0.3% Year-Over-Year in August 2026, ARGUS TRAQPak Data Shows

North American private jet flight activity increased just 0.3% year-over-year in August 2026, falling well short of the 3.5% gain ARGUS TRAQPak analysts had forecast for the month. The turboprop segment posted the largest gain, rising 3.3%, while small-cabin jets climbed 2.9%; midsize flights fell 1.9% and large-cabin activity dropped 6.2% year-over-year.
By operator category, fractional operations led all segments with a 7.9% year-over-year increase, with large-cabin fractional flying surging 14.9% and small-cabin and midsize fractionals up 9.8% and 7.3% respectively; turboprop was the only fractional category to decline. Part 135 charter operations were nearly flat overall, up 0.1%, as turboprop gained 2.4% and small-cabin jets rose about 1.5% while midsize fell 1.9% and large-cabin dropped 3.9%.
Part 91 operations recorded the only major category decline, falling 2.9% year-over-year, as turboprop gained 4.6% and small-cabin edged up 0.7% while midsize and large-cabin jets each fell by double digits, down 13.4% and 13.1% respectively. ARGUS's Kuhn said August is normally a transition month as summer leisure flying cools with back-to-school, calling the overall positive result "a good indicator that the market is still healthy."
ARGUS forecasts a 0.1% year-over-year decrease in North American private jet activity for September 2026, which would mark the first negative monthly result of the year. Kuhn noted the September decline had been anticipated in ARGUS's annual report issued in January, adding that the market has remained relatively stable throughout 2026.
