Martin Aviation Opens 13,000-Square-Foot Turbine Maintenance Facility at Cullman Regional Airport
Why It MattersAdding turbine maintenance at a regional field shows how smaller airports use a single MRO investment to retain transient and based turbine traffic that would otherwise leave for service elsewhere.
What happened
Martin Aviation, LLC officially opened its new aircraft maintenance facility at Cullman Regional Airport – Folsom Field in Alabama. The company held a ribbon-cutting on a Thursday morning in October, followed by an open house with tours and light refreshments.

The 13,000-square-foot facility will provide maintenance and inspection services for jet and turboprop aircraft, which brings turbine maintenance to the field.
Company owner Chris Martin said the service will help keep visitors and local operators from being stuck by maintenance issues. Airport Director Ben Harrison called the investment an exciting addition to the airport.
Industry impact & what to watch
Regional airports often depend on a single maintenance provider to decide whether turbine aircraft stay based at the field or leave for service elsewhere. A facility that handles both jets and turboprops widens the range of aircraft that can be serviced on site, and it gives transient operators a local option when a problem surfaces away from their home base.
For a field of this size, the economics of a new MRO usually rest on steady local demand supplemented by visiting traffic. The inspection and maintenance capability Martin Aviation describes fits that model: it serves operators already using the airport and offers a reason for others to stop there.
The next milestone is simply whether the shop begins taking turbine work and which aircraft types it services first.
