Livingston Parish Executive Airport Secures $3.5 Million in State Funding for Runway and Infrastructure

The Livingston Parish Executive Airport in Louisiana has received $3.5 million in state funding approved during the most recent legislative session. The money will go toward paving the runway and establishing drainage and other infrastructure at the airport, located just south of the Satsuma exit near Interstate 12.
The project has already cost $20 million over several years of work and has yet to complete its first phase of construction. Delia Taylor, chairwoman of the Livingston Parish Airport District, attributed much of the delay to multiple layers of local, state, and federal regulatory requirements that must be satisfied simultaneously.
Parish President Randy Delatte said the airport's absence has already had a concrete economic impact, citing a fallen-through deal to attract a lithium mining company from Australia, with the lack of a completed airport cited as a major contributing factor in the company's decision not to sign with Livingston Parish. Taylor said investors and businesses are already making inquiries about the area, and local leaders noted increased data center interest within the parish, though Taylor said there is currently no estimated completion date for the project.
