Bharat Forge Secures Long-Term Contract from Pratt & Whitney Canada for Aerospace Engine Components
Why It MattersThe deal signals engine makers increasingly qualifying single-source regional suppliers for critical components, underscoring how aerospace supply chains are diversifying manufacturing footprints beyond traditional hubs.
What happened
Bharat Forge Ltd has secured a long-term contract from Pratt & Whitney Canada for the supply of mission-critical aerospace engine components, the Pune-based company announced. The components will be manufactured at Bharat Forge's aerospace facility in India.

Bharat Forge said it is the first and only company in India to manufacture precision aerospace components used in the Pearl engine family. Amit Kalyani, Vice-Chairman and Joint Managing Director of Bharat Forge, said, "We look forward to supporting Pratt & Whitney Canada's programs and furthering India's advancement in aerospace manufacturing expertise."
Nathalie Rivet, Vice President of Supply Chain at Pratt & Whitney Canada, said the collaboration reflects the company's commitment to building a resilient, high-performing global supply chain to support its customers and future growth ambitions.
Industry impact & what to watch
This arrangement fits into a broader push by engine manufacturers to widen and localize their supplier base for mission-critical components rather than relying solely on legacy regional vendors. Pratt & Whitney Canada's emphasis on a resilient, high-performing global supply chain points to continued qualification of new manufacturing sites to support production ramp and future growth.
In aerospace component manufacturing, long-term supply contracts of this kind typically require extensive certification of a supplier's processes, materials and quality systems before any parts enter an engine program, which is why Bharat Forge's status as the sole Indian manufacturer for Pearl engine family components carries weight for its aerospace unit's credentials.
What remains to be disclosed is the contract's duration, value and production volumes, along with how this supply relationship fits into Pratt & Whitney Canada's wider sourcing strategy for the Pearl engine program.
