DFW Airport Hit by Second Consecutive Day of Ground Stop as Delays Surpass 600

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop for departures to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on Monday, the second such action in as many days, as thunderstorms disrupted air travel across the United States. The stop remained in effect until at least 9:15 p.m.
By Monday afternoon, DFW had recorded more than 600 delays and over 30 cancellations, according to flight-tracking site FlightAware, building on more than 900 delays recorded at the airport on Sunday. American Airlines, which bases its central hub at DFW, and Southwest Airlines, the leading carrier at Dallas Love Field, together logged more than 2,000 delays and over 100 cancellations nationwide on Monday, FlightAware data showed. The FAA said departures from both DFW and Love Field were delayed.
The disruption at DFW added to technical issues that had already affected flights in the Northeast earlier in the day.
