Luxembourg's inter-ministerial drone task force concluded that no intervention by authorities was required following a wave of drone sightings reported on Saturday evening, a day after drones caused significant disruption to air traffic on Friday. Multiple sightings were reported to RTL from areas including Helperknapp, Diekirch, Mersch, and Ingeldorf, and police received multiple reports on Saturday night of potential drones in Luxembourg's airspace, which were subsequently verified.
The task force reconvened on Sunday morning to analyse the situation and released an update on Sunday afternoon, concluding that none of the reported cases constituted a security concern or caused any disruption to public order. Authorities noted that in many instances, members of the public had mistaken aircraft lights in the night sky for drones.
To improve monitoring and detection capabilities, authorities made use of technical equipment provided by international partners, enabling a more thorough assessment of the situation. For security reasons, authorities stated that no further operational details would be released at this time, and the government, the task force, and other relevant authorities said they will continue to monitor the situation.
