The global eVTOL market is valued at approximately US$5.7 billion in 2026 and is projected to reach US$3,855.1 billion by 2035, a compound annual growth rate of 78.5% over the 2026–2035 period, according to a market research report by DataM Intelligence 4 Market Research LLP. The report attributes this growth to accelerating investment in electric propulsion, autonomous flight systems, battery technology, vertiport infrastructure, and air-taxi networks, alongside urban congestion, demand for point-to-point mobility, and decarbonization objectives. North America held the largest regional share at 38.74% in 2025, followed by Asia Pacific at 30%, Europe at 20%, and the rest of the world at 11%.
Among recent industry developments cited in the report, Archer Aviation in August 2026 completed a piloted round-trip flight of its Midnight aircraft between Salinas Municipal Airport and Monterey Regional Airport, with each leg taking approximately nine minutes. The company also reached Phase 3 completion in the FAA's four-phase Type Certification process for Midnight in April 2026, becoming the first eVTOL developer to close that certification phase. On August 10, 2026, Archer Aviation agreed to acquire Boeing's Wisk Aero, Insitu, and SkyGrid subsidiaries; Insitu contributes more than US$200 million in annual revenue and operations across 35 countries, and the three businesses collectively bring nearly two million combined flight hours, with Boeing retaining a strategic stake in Archer.
Joby Aviation agreed on August 11, 2026 to acquire Resonant Sciences for approximately US$500 million; Resonant recorded more than US$100 million in trailing-12-month revenue and will become Joby's dedicated defense business. On August 4, 2026, Joby Aviation and Atoms formed a strategic partnership to acquire and develop vertiport sites across Florida, New York, Texas, and California. In Japan, Toyota Motor Corporation established a joint venture with Joby Aviation in June 2026 focused on production of Joby's S4-series eVTOL aircraft. In January 2026, SkyDrive Inc. reached a commercial framework with AeroGulf Services for the potential purchase of 20 SD-05 eVTOL aircraft, with 10 units targeted for 2028 delivery and 10 for 2029.
