Nice–Olbia–Mykonos Private Jet Tour: Airport Permissions and Retention Costs Compared

Why It MattersMulti-stop leisure charters are priced on the interaction of airport permissions, ground time and aircraft retention terms, so quotes built on passenger flying time alone can misstate what a trip actually costs.

What happened

A BizJet Journal planning guide published November 6, 2026 sets out how to plan a Nice–Olbia–Mykonos private jet and yacht itinerary. It advises that airport permissions, hotel nights and the yacht's embarkation time be planned together rather than priced on passenger flying time alone.

Nice–Olbia–Mykonos Private Jet Tour: Airport Permissions and Retention Costs Compared

The guide recommends anchoring the trip to the least movable commitment, such as a confirmed embarkation port, date and receiving time, then working backward to the island flight and fitting city nights around it. An illustrative seven-day sequence has the passengers arriving in Nice on day one and flying Nice–Olbia on a later day.

Each airport has its own permission process. At Nice, COHOR's coordination information states that general and business aviation slot requests go through handling agents, and its published W26 and S27 parameters require airport approval for turnarounds longer than four hours. At Olbia, Eccelsa Aviation's FBO information states that handling is mandatory and that prior permission (PPR) is required but handled internally. The FBO lists operating hours of 07:00–22:00 local time, slot-free arrival and departure, and airport codes OLB/LIEO.

The guide also compares keeping one aircraft against separate charters. The stated assumptions are three occupied flight hours, a $4,000 hourly charge, six retained overnights at $500 each and two extra positioning hours for separate charters, with taxes, airport fees, handling and transfers excluded. With no daily minimum, retention costs $15,000 against $20,000 for separate charters. With a half-hour daily minimum, retention totals $17,000; at one hour per day it totals $31,000; at two hours per day it totals $59,000.

For the yacht handoff, the guide advises naming the meeting point, driver, vehicle, luggage capacity and receiving contact. It illustrates timing with assumed figures of 30 minutes for airport processing, 45 minutes of driving and 20 minutes to reach and board at the marina, totalling 95 minutes before any delay. It also advises checking passenger entry requirements if the route changes jurisdiction and not assuming a yacht can receive a helicopter transfer.

Industry impact & what to watch

The comparison shows that retention versus separate charters is decided by the contract terms rather than by the trip itself. The same itinerary costs $15,000 to retain with no daily minimum and $59,000 at two hours per day, while separate charters sit at $20,000. In multi-stop leisure charters, then, the daily minimum is the variable that moves the answer, and a quote that omits it is not comparable with one that includes it.

The permission detail points the same way. Slot coordination at one airport, a mandatory handling and PPR step at another and an approval threshold for long turnarounds all sit upstream of the price, and they attach to specific airports and seasons. For operators and brokers selling this kind of Mediterranean circuit, the lead-time and handling arrangements are part of the product, not an afterthought added once the aircraft is booked.

The guide's own figures are illustrative: they exclude taxes, airport fees, handling and transfers, and the 95-minute yacht-handoff buffer is built from assumed durations. A reader checking a real quote would want those excluded items stated line by line, and the receiving-contact and luggage details confirmed in writing before the embarkation time is treated as fixed.
