Palm Beach to Close Stretch of South Ocean Boulevard and FAA Posts Flight Restrictions Nov. 6-8 for Expected Trump Visit
Why It MattersPresidential-visit restrictions repeatedly constrain general and business aviation access to the Palm Beach area, so operators using the market must plan around short-notice airspace and ground disruption.
A stretch of South Ocean Boulevard in Palm Beach, Florida, between South County Road and Southern Boulevard, will close early Friday, Nov. 6, and remain closed until further notice, the Town of Palm Beach said Wednesday. The town said its security procedures apply when people under Secret Service protection are present or expected, and President Donald Trump is expected to return to the area.

The FAA has posted a temporary flight restriction for Palm Beach covering Nov. 6-8. An FAA notice to pilots lists a VIP movement notification for those dates but does not identify the person traveling. Previous reporting has linked the planned restrictions to Trump's expected post-election trip to Mar-a-Lago. The FAA says detailed restrictions are available through its TFR system and may change, and it advises pilots to check current notices before flying.
Residents and service providers who need access inside the closure area must show proper identification and use the checkpoint at South County Road and South Ocean Boulevard. Drivers should plan for delays and check the town's traffic impact page for updates. Bridge schedules also may change if the U.S. Coast Guard establishes temporary marine security zones: the Southern Boulevard Bridge could be held to allow uninterrupted passage of dignitaries, and the Flagler Memorial and Royal Park bridges may follow adjusted opening schedules. According to its website, the CPAC Mar-a-Lago Gala is scheduled at the president's private Palm Beach club from Nov. 4-7.
