FAA Issues Security TFR 6/4687 Over Santa Rosa Island, Florida, for Nov 8–9
Why It MattersShort-notice security TFRs near military ranges such as Eglin routinely close low-altitude airspace on the Florida Panhandle coast, directly constraining drone and general-aviation operators there for the restriction window.
The FAA has listed temporary flight restriction NOTAM 6/4687 for Santa Rosa Island, Florida. It is a security TFR issued under 14 CFR 99.7 (special security instructions), and the FAA's short name for it is "261108-09 Eglin, FL". The restriction begins on Nov 8 at 5:00 AM CST (6:00 AM ET) and ends on Nov 9 at 12:00 PM CST (1:00 PM ET). It applies to all aircraft, including drones, unless an exception listed in the NOTAM applies to the operator.

The TFR covers two restricted areas, each extending from 0 ft AGL up to 250 ft MSL. The western area is described in the NOTAM around coordinates 30.3666, -86.8557, and the eastern area around 30.3573, -86.5944. The map points to the centre of each area rather than its boundary, so operators should consult the FAA's graphic page for the exact boundaries.
The FAA's TFR list still showed the restriction as of Nov 3, 2026, and TFRs can be changed or cancelled at short notice. Drone operators can check airspace restrictions through FAA-approved B4UFLY services.
