Wildpath Transportation to Run Reservation-Based Eagle County Airport Shuttle During 2027 Aspen Airport Closure
Why It MattersA months-long closure of a primary mountain airport shifts demand to a neighbouring field and makes scheduled ground transfer a core part of the air product, with highway projects timed around it.
What happened
Wildpath Transportation will operate two connected shuttle services between Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE) and the Roaring Fork Valley, including Aspen and Snowmass, while the Aspen/Pitkin County Airport is closed for construction from April 4 through November 19, 2027. The services are called the EGE Line and the Valley Loop, and the stated aim is to keep more cars off Highway 82 and I-70 by offering a more affordable and accessible alternative to rental cars.

The EGE Line is a reservation-based highway service between the airport and the valley. Vans stop in Glenwood Springs and Basalt whenever riders on a given departure need those stops. Departures are timed around United and American flight schedules at EGE, with six trips toward the airport and eight from it each day, and Wildpath adds or reduces vans on each departure as reservations come in. The Valley Loop is an on-demand shuttle covering the last mile between the Brush Creek Intercept Lot and final destinations in Aspen and Snowmass.
Wildpath is expanding its fleet to 22 Mercedes Sprinter vans for the service, four of them wheelchair-accessible (ADA), and will scale capacity to match booking data. Seats will be bookable on the Wildpath website and app, with live van tracking and text updates, ahead of the April 4 start. Wildpath was selected through the Fly Aspen Snowmass request-for-qualifications process and is hiring drivers, dispatchers and managers in the Aspen and Eagle County areas.
Justin Carroll, owner of Wildpath Transportation, said the company is building a simple and reliable service. Bill Tomcich, air service consultant to Fly Aspen Snowmass, said American and United are significantly expanding flights into EGE during the 2027 closure, creating a clear need for scheduled ground transportation.
Flight times in the published schedule come from a sample week of United and American schedules at EGE in June 2027 and will be updated to final airline data before launch. Each rider may bring one regular-size bag of up to 50 pounds and one carry-on-sized bag at no extra charge, with ski and snowboard bags counting as the regular-size bag. Additional bags cost $50 to $100 each depending on size. Wildpath, founded in 2024 by Carroll, is a locally owned, Colorado-based company serving the Roaring Fork Valley and Denver metro area.
Road project timing
The Colorado Transportation Commission recently approved $5 million to move the I-70 Glenwood Canyon Phase 8 project from 2027 to 2028 so that it does not overlap with the airport closure.
Industry impact & what to watch
When a primary mountain-resort airport closes for most of a season, the passenger flow does not disappear; it moves to the nearest field with scheduled airline service and then has to cross a mountain corridor by road. Here that field is EGE, where Tomcich says American and United are significantly expanding flights. The ground leg therefore becomes part of the air product itself, which is why a shuttle operator was procured through a formal request-for-qualifications process and why highway work was rescheduled around the closure.
The design also shows how this kind of capacity is typically managed: departures anchored to airline schedules, vans added or removed as reservations build, and fleet size set against booking data. That makes the service sensitive to the final airline timetables, which Wildpath says will replace the sample June 2027 week before launch.
The next milestones are the update of the shuttle schedule to final airline data and the opening of seat bookings ahead of the April 4 start.
