Eutelsat Names Eclipse Global Connectivity as First European OneWeb Government Aviation Distribution Partner for French Armed Forces

Eutelsat has appointed Eclipse Global Connectivity as its first European distribution partner for OneWeb government aviation services, with the partnership targeting the French Armed Forces and French government aircraft operators. Under the agreement, Eclipse will supply Eutelsat's OneWeb Low Earth Orbit (LEO) airtime, terminals, and software solutions directly to French military and government flight operators.

Deployment begins immediately, with installation and integration work commencing in September 2026. The first French military aircraft is scheduled to be retrofitted with OneWeb LEO satellite connectivity hardware before the end of September 2026, with broader fleet-wide rollouts across French defense and head-of-state aircraft planned through 2027. The integrated aviation solution combines Eutelsat's LEO constellation, described as comprising more than 600 satellites, with specialized hardware, cabin networking equipment, and Eclipse's proprietary software framework.
The system is certified under Eclipse's European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Design Organization Approval (DOA) and Production Organization Approval (POA), enabling satellite terminal and radome installation across diverse military and government aircraft. Eclipse's DO-178 certified Aero+ software stack handles real-time traffic optimization, bandwidth allocation, and security functions. The partnership builds on Eclipse's existing authorization as a OneWeb Distribution Partner for government aviation in EMEA markets, and Eclipse brings more than three decades of experience in airborne satellite integration, aircraft certification, and military avionics.
Marc Pinault, Chief Executive Officer of Eclipse Global Connectivity, said becoming a Eutelsat OneWeb Aero Distribution Partner to the French Armed Forces "is a major milestone for our company," adding that the agreement "allows us to deliver sovereign, low-latency, high-throughput LEO solutions tailored to the critical requirements of French government platforms." Jason Sperry, Head of Business & Global Government Aviation at Eutelsat, said combining that capability with Eclipse's certification expertise gives "a clear route to bring OneWeb connectivity to French government and military fleets."
