Cosmic Aerospace Unveils Four-Seat All-Electric Cosmic One Targeting FAA MOSAIC Certification

Colorado-based Cosmic Aerospace has revealed the Cosmic One, a four-seat, all-electric aircraft currently in preliminary design that is being developed as a candidate to become the first clean-sheet, four-seat, all-electric aircraft certified under the FAA's Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certifications (MOSAIC) rule. The MOSAIC rule modernizes certification requirements for heavier, faster, four-seat, and electric Light Sport Aircraft, potentially enabling faster market entry for designs like the Cosmic One.
The aircraft features an "embedded wing" architecture with six integrated ducted fans. Cosmic Aerospace is targeting a 250-nautical-mile range, more than two hours of endurance, and a top speed of 250 knots.
According to Christopher Chahine, co-founder and CEO of Cosmic Aerospace, the Cosmic One is intended as a premium four-seat fully electric aircraft aimed at the general aviation and flight training markets, with lower operating costs and fast-charging capability cited as key attributes. The company also says it plans to scale the core technology to larger regional aircraft.
